I got another good hour or two in. Not with Classic 4, actually I only played it twice all night. I haven’t played it in over 2 days. My neighbor said that he wanted to see me try it when I had paused going through the CS mode. So I told him that it was tough and I cannot pass it.
Weird, first try and I passed it.
I have mainly been practicing level 20 and over songs only. So that probably helped me pass it. There are not a whole lot of level 20+ songs in normal 9 line. I still cannot do almost any Hypers (I can do Watermelon Woman, but that does not really count). I will occasionally feel brave and throw in a Hyper and try to brave through it, but I fail horribly. I will prevail through practice I believe.
I almost feel bad that Pop’n is taking over all my other gaming. I have a list of over 30 games that I still need to go back and finish (some are higher priority than others) but they have just taken a back seat to Pop’n. After last night I could see an entire weekend (like 20 hours) just spent Pop’n if there was a good rotation.
I am surprised that this is not in the US. When Beatmania was on its 3rd or 4th append for the PS1 I managed to find a machine at a Dave & Busters-esq place in Chicago. It looked lonely. I played a few rounds and annihilated the scores (Beatmania was so-o easy when it was only 5 key. I use to have the Konami 5 key controller and 1 - 3rd append). Anyways when other people saw me playing it they got interested and I started a rotation. I think Pop’n would be like that. I would play in an arcade for free to generate interest in a game.
Seriously US arcades are so stupid. They need to give managers free quarters and have them play the games that do not generate as much interest and tell them it is there job to get good at it. I think that when people see high-level play in a game it sparks interest and competition in them. Tournaments give people a reason to come in and train when there is no one to compete with. I do not think US arcade operators even try any more. When Dimahoo was at game club this one kid say me playing well and tried for a few quarters after I left. I also convinced my friend to compete against my High Score (I took the #1 spot with in 5 credits ^_^; )
Ahhh I am off on a tangent. Anyways I decided that Pop’n is much better than Amplitude. I only have 7 songs left to beat on normal!
P.S. Konami released the level 1 BMG for Gradius V. Click on it in my current music to hear the beauty.
