Why does it seem like the average age of users at Bemani style is about 15? Not that this is really a bad thing, I just wish that they acted like they were more mature. I use to wonder why there were so many stickies at the forum. Then I realsied that it is because about 70% of the posters have no idea how to scroll down, go to a second page, or search. On top of that the new announcement of 11th Style thread (HERE) is filled with idiots it seems. Not everyone, again just 70% of them. Stuff like: “Over 320 songs! Songs from Pop’n, guitarfreaks! And a newsong by “Artist X”!! This is going to be the best version of IIDX yet!! I hope timing issues are fixed and that “Artist X” makes a new song in style X! OMG A GAME ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SOMETHING THAT LESS THAN 20 PEOPLE ON FOURM EVER HAVE A CHANCE OF PLAYING, W/O A CS RELEASE, GAVE ME THE EQUEVLANT PLEASURE OF SEX AND I ORGASAMED!@!@! OnE!” Look, there is no song list yet, there are no confirmed “transplant songs” yet, there will most likely be no new soft/hardware to fix timing issues, and none of you really masturbated because of this announcement. This reminds me of how people react to new Neo-Geo game announcements, then when the game comes out they just thrash the game. Also I do not like Goa Trance too much.

Holy shit, sometimes I really wonder why I return to some of the fourms I visit… I stoped going to SRK forums for a similar reason. If DDR kids are labled as “worse” than the IIDX community… *shudder*

SO-O, I have been reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (my third Murakami book). So far it is really good and surreal like I was hoping. His writing style is addictive in even the most mundane situations. I really would like to get A Wild Sheep Chase, but B&N never has it in ( I am one of those %10 off members) and I never remember to order it on-line so I always end up picking up something else in store.

Well yea, I know I have had a VJ army account for a little while now and have not entered anything. So I finally got off my ass and took my Excel spread sheet and wrote down the Light 7 scores for 4th and 5th style. I just got done entering them:

Wow, what a reality check on my skills. :( In my defence, I am mainly working on passing right now, and score improvement was second on my list. I also tried to pass V again last night… grrr. So damn close, but yet still quite far. It is the very ending. I cannot pass this song I think.

Oh well, I have a feeling that my Pop’n Music scores will not be anywhere near as pathetic.

Great little article that I got linked to from Insert Credit. Why is it great? Well, because I knew it was comming. Look at the poll: 54% (currently) favor 2D. 2D is making a comeback, and I would like to think that GBA put alot of ribbing into this happening. Also, the “my first system was a PS1″ kids who have never been to an arcade are probably seeing this as new styles of gaming. With the popularity of games like Viewtiful Joe, Guilty Gear, and Ikaruga I am liking the direction that I see gaming going in the near/not-to-distant as good. There is alot of 2D goodness being held from the floodgates of the US, all we need are a few more head editors to write similar articles.

Well I had a good Bemani weekend. On saturday I had alot of sleep, so I was playing decent. I then held a conversation with myself that went something like this:

“Are you happy with the level of play your at? Well because you’ve been stuck here for a while with no large jumps in play.”
“No I no longer want to be here!”
“Well then just get better, don’t try, DO!”

I really did have a conversation similar to that in my head. I was playing much better after it. I beat a few more level 28 Hypers in Pop’n music and some more 5* 7Keys in IIDX.

Alot of other stuff happen this weekend (Mainly that I saw Anchorman which was good, but I should have waited for video), but something else has come up that I want to talk about:

So, I fell victim to myself and realised that I am not comfortable with my stances in politics [I know that half of the people who normal read this just stopped reading ;p ] so I decided to “research” it better. So I finally found a site that looked like it was what I was looking for HERE. Now I followed the links and I am going to do it like it were a class. I figured that I will feel out the parties and perhaps change my Republican stance (mainly for tax/military/education reasons).

Well the links from that site take me to the info for the 2000 elections, so I got the republican information current. Education is the first topic up, so I go looking. I find the current Republican stance easily, then I grab the old Democratic stance. I then realised it was the old Democratic stance and tried to find the new one. All I find is anti-Bush info at the Democratic site. Nothing about the current Democratic stance. There are 9 articles in the issue of education about what Bush is/did/will do wrong. How the hell does the party expect me to vote for them if I just know that Democrats hate Rupublicans? This is not a sound tactic, perhaps I need to find a different site. This is just pissing me off, not helping me.

Sorry for bringing this up here, but I am pretty sure my wife is tired of my politics and would just rip my head if I brought it up to her. Diden’t know who else to bring this up to.

Well last night on my way home from work I stoped at Big Lots to pick up one of THESE. That is not my Pop’n controller in the pic, as it was recomended to me HERE to get one. It worked out perfectly for Pop’n and IIDX. I got to test it out for about 1 hour with Pop’n. I can still beat Piano Rock hyper… but I suck horrible on any song that I cannot “hum” (like a song I know how it sounds pretty well). Oh well I haven’t played in almost 2 weeks.

I also watched 2 episodes of Excel and it is crazy. I would not recomend this series unless you have a fair ammount of anime viewing history because there are alot of “in” jokes for anime fans.

Well I forgot to metnion that I got the entire Excel Saga from Best Buy for $57. Not a bad deal. It seemed silly and I thought that I might enjoy it. I mainly got it for my wife.

Well as you my know my wife quit smoking. I don’t know if she thinks that she is not irritatable or what, but she is making me really nervous. She is getting really heavy mood swings, and is very iritatable. She is “not” yelling at me, but has a super short fuse and is really snappy. Then all a sudden will smile and be fine. I wanted to play Pop’n last night, but was almsot too scared to ask her if I could. I don’t need to get into a fight over bemani :X So we just watched Ranma 1/2 and My Stepmothers an Alien. I am hoping this all passes really soon, I hate walking on eggshells.

With this you can print out any style and then write down your score to bring it all over to VJ Army w/o running back and forth to the PC. Have fun.

Well I was at my parents for a week. Yes, I brought my PS2 and my Beatmania stuff.
The original plan was for Sara (my wife) to just go and work for her grandmother for 10 days. My sister ended up getting pregnant, so I used this oppertunity to go with my wife and visit her. Now this made my wife cut her time to work down a day or 2 and we left for Chicago via train on Saturday July 10th. My dad gave me a Toyota Camry 91 to drive back and use how I wanted, and we returned Sat. July 17th in it. Between then I was a combination of bored and rushed.

From about 9:30am (wake up) and 7pm I was bored. It was my sister and I sitting around playing video games waiting for my parents to get home. Then when Sara got done working (she worked roughly from 8am-8pm) she would try to grab me and drag me around. On top of all this my wife was trying to quit smoking (and still has not had a smoke since the 10th). Aside from spending time with family, about the only thing that I did was go to the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of the John Hancock building. That was really cool.

On the drive back there was an amazing electrical storm that lasted for about 3.5 - 4 hours. White Zombie+Electrical Storm = Rawk! \m/
I found a new altoid — Ginger altoids are quite excellent.

I got alot of Beatmania played. I moved up to 7Key mostly. I do not make a lot of progress with it, but I am pretty much working on 5* or lower. If I play any L7 stuff I am just going for score. I have seen my score improve in quite a few songs. I will probably work on a spread sheet for writing down scores for IIDX as VJarmy. If I had been going this all along then I would not have to do this, but going back and forth for 4 styles of games is a bit redundant, so I will make this up.

Now I know that this will probably be the most bizzar IIDX/Pop’n thing you will ever read. I got hypnotised to get better at Bemani. My mom is a hypnotist and offered to help my wife quit smoking through hypnosis. When it was all said and over Sara told me that I should try it “for anything, just try it.” So I decided to try it for Bemani (it was the only thing that came to my head). I basically said to my mom that I need to;not have a delay in my reaction from recognition of note pattern to hand movements, I need to focus lower on the screen and not let my eyes drift up, and also to pay attention to timing for improved score (not hitting the notes before they get to the line).

After I had been hypnotised I was hoping for some huge jump in improvement. I was really not at all too supprised when it did not happen. The other things that I had wanted to improve in, I did. It was weird. Now my focus is always very close to the line and my timing improved greatly. I no longer find my eyes drifting up to get a better handel on the patterns. Now it is not some huge jump that I was hoping for, but I really did not expect any of it to work, so I was happy with what I could get.

Now I have been craving Pop’n since like last wednsday, so I really want to play it tonight!
