Change up

Since putting Bemani items on the back burner a bit (not that I don’t still enjoy them, I was just putting too much into them) I changed up my layout to be more… JoJo. I am not too happy with it, but I think I would have to pay for my LJ to get it how I want it.

Anyways, I had a blast with everyone coming over on Friday night. Lots of IIDX and Pop’n. We were going to play 4 Swords, but that never ended up happening.

I finished up The Devil Lady series. It ended… strangly. I was pleasantly supprised by how deep it tried to go, but it was still a bit confusing.

I also finished the Naruto manga I have (only vol 1 and 2) and enjoyed it. I am trying to get caught up to where Jump is publishing it (I think chapter 54) which should only be about 3 more volumes. Berserk Vol 6 also came out last week so I will pick that up too.

I think I am almost done with Jak 3. Still enjoying it much. I will probably jump right into MGS3 after this. Now that Sara has started school back up gaming time will increase.

I ended up not meeting my own deadline about the website over the weekend … shit. Well perhaps this weekend. I am ending up with many more features for the website than I initally planned for, so that is a bonus.

I also practiced my guitar a bit and am getting better, but I can’t judge my progress. It is odd teaching yourself an instrument without someone helping you directly to give you input.

I am also up for input on how to maximise my LJ w/o paying for it as far as customising. Any links or help is appreciated.

Second Try!

This will try to cover everything I wanted to say last night (only more briefly than before) and other things I did not have time to cover last night.

I have been playing alot of games lately. Well I guess that I have been gaming a lot is a better way to put it. Mostly Jak 3 and Advance Guardian Heroes. I am having fun with AGH as it is quite challenging and has some healthy doses of nostalgia. I beat the game on normal and am working on a hard game (it is quite hard). Unfortunately the pace of the game is a bit jarring and the story leaves something to be desired, it is also short, but I am liking the gameplay and challenge.

I have also been working odd hours this week. I ended up working from 4pm ’till 1am on Wed. night. I finished the second story arc of JoJo and started the first vol. of the 3rd arc. Ignition-one is down right now, so I am pretty glad that I got what I did when I could. Man there is a lot of JoJo.

I have also played my guitar quite a bit. I am getting better and can work my way around well. I am having trouble with hitting multiple strings for cords, but hey, that is why I practice.

I also finished up Silent Hill: Dying Inside (the comic). It only took about an hour too read. I don’t think that the writers “got” the Silent Hill series. Yes, it is psychologically scary, we do not need a Physiatrist to tell us that. It misses the nail on quite a few areas and is also paced horribly. Save your money for something else, seriously. Also this leaves a bad taste in my mouth about the movie.

I have some friends coming over tonight: Ton, Dereck and Hai… I think. Let me know you guys. Also don’t forget your SPs and hook ups for Zelda.

Shit, the fukuburukro is out…

FUCK THIS! LJ JUST ATE 30 MIN OF ME TRYING TO MAKE A POST! FUCK YOU LIVE JOURNAL!!!!!

Late to the game.

A long time ago I had a PS2 recently opened. With it I got DMC and MGS2. Final Fantasy X would be coming out for it soon.

I watched the commercials, saw the threads. Years passed. Over these years I told myself I would end up with FFX one day.

I have bought most of the FF games since 3… err 6. I borrowed that one from a friend and enjoyed most of it. I never really liked FF or Dragon Warrior. Well the first ones. Perhaps I was too young.

I got DW free with a subscription to Nintendo Power as I know many other had. I played it for quite a while I know. I enjoyed and disliked it about equally. An issue of Nintendo Power I had toted FF as the best game ever or some equally unfitting title. I am not sure whether I rented it or borrowed the game, I was excited to get it.

This all ended 4 hours later.

It was probably a combination of being a bit too young and bland gameplay (to me) that turned me off, but I missed out on many RPGs because of that combination. I liked FF3, but not as much as 7.

FF7 was the last RPG I finished that needed more than 30 hours of my time.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga was the last RPG I finished, but I did that in under 25. This is really not about the role-playing, I promise. But I did buy FF8 and FF9 and finished neither. I might have finished 9, but a memory card failed on me and I did not like the first 20 hours that much.

Sitting at home, right now, is a Square Soft copy of FFX and Squenix copy of X-2 for a combined price of $20. Why the hell not, huh?

I thought for the longest time that I would never even see the opening movie for this game. I spent a lot of time with my friend Stone over the holidays and we discussed many things. While I was at Best Buy using a gift card and getting CDs he picked up FFX-2 to kill time when I would be with my in-laws and he stayed at home.

See I thought X-2 was just all about skin showing fan service.

The way the game played — or better the way it looks like it plays — is a bit more fast paced. 2 people were attacking at once based on active commands. Interesting.

I use to buy just about every game that crossed a counter top at Electronics Boutique (when there was no EBGames) to make sure I did not miss interesting things. I gave up on this with most RPGs in the early time of the FF clones for the PS1.

I almost missed this. I may have been better off missing it, but Stone instilled a sense of revived interest in RPGs and Jump Manga. I will see if this is a good or bad purchase of the next couple of months, but if I start the game before March I will be surprised.

Now everyone and their brother has played this game. I don’t even know what the hell Blitzball really is. I want to try this active battle multi player attacking and with this used combo purchase I figure I can at least give the characters the respect of playing to find out why they got fan service.

Am I the only person who has missed out on games they never looked at because they dismissed the genre completely?

The end of an epic

Well Jak 3 runs at a headache inducing 30FPS average. Yay! Daxteris a tard. You run quite slow…

Against all these things I kind of like it.

I am also playing throug Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest. I beat this when I was much younger, and playing it now… I must have used a walk through from Nintendo Power or something to do it. This game is still great.

30 and count

So yes, I have a half hour of work left. Then I shal be driven home and tonight I will play video games. Well at least one.

So I will give a small back story to what I may end up playing tonight.

For some completely random unknown and arbitrary reason I placed Jak III on my Christmas list. The day was 2 weeks before Xmas and my mother was looking for a list of items to get me. Among the a list comprised of books, movies, and clothes I had a short list of games. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was top on this list. When I had a few more I was trying to round out the list.

Jak III popped into my head. Don’t know where it came from. Have no idea if I am interested in it. Never played a Jak game before.

So here I am, no MGS3 but I do have Jak III. I am interested in seeing why I put this on my list. Perhaps it is because I have not played a new 3D platforming (in the strict sense of it all) game since the early PS2 period.

Perhaps I just wanted a third game that used roman numerals… or are they hash marks?

“Do you own a video game website?”

Ok, what the shit. My wife just got called by person who wanted to know if someone who owned a videogame website was their. Either a huge coincidence or it was someone I know online. Either way, if it was you, let me know and call back after 5PM central. If it was not you we can talk about the weirdness of it in my comments section here LIVE!

Drain the G

Well Hotmail is still on the fritz. I can get email from it about once or twice a day. O well. I am currently in the process of emptying out my Gmail of all the MP3s that all you people have been sending me. I will burn them all to a CD and insanity will happen… perhaps.

I practiced my guitar for quite a bit longer than I expected last night. It is … not so bad to practice it. I will get wicked blisters though, I can feel it. I opened a Nintendo wristband which had previously been hanging on my wall. I wear it while practicing, but not because I am sweaty.

Sara started Paper Mario 2 last night. It looks more awesome than the previous Paper Mario, and not just because it is in a higher resolution.

Ahh well, almost done with my MP3s….

… I need to change up my LJ theme a bit.

Shit

Hotmail is on the fritz, I hate my job, and I go home in 10 min. 1 out of 3 isn’t bad.

I really lack the desire to write stuff. I have not really played any games in 2 weeks. I have not practiced my guitar in a few days.

Um…

I cried at the end of Kenshin Reflections… I am a pansy.

Hello again!

Since everyone was in such a rush to say goodbye when I left I figured you would all be in the same rush to say welcome back. I just wanted to let all know that I returned home safe and with a new Guitar (accoustic) which I will hopefully be learning.

Please link me to important events in your livejournal
at least one per person!

I will try to go back and skim over most everyone’s journal, but I will more than likely miss something over the 2 weeks I need to catch up on.

-Regards
