God Hand

I like God Hand, a lot. Here is my unreview of God Hand. I wish I were playing God Hand right now.

15 minutes

My nephew/sister made the local paper.

No, my last name is not McCoy, that is the name of the father/boyfriend of my sister… please don’t ask, I made this friends only for a reason, but still, that topic is longer than I care to spend the words on.

Work and bitching

So I am already dreading going to work on Monday. I can’t belive how much I hate this job. When I’m not at work there is not one night that I can escape the grasp of this… dread. Only 13 months left.

Wii got it

So, my wife waited in line for me for a Wii (she wanted one too obviously) from 7:30am until 10am when they opened the EB games closest to us. We live near a very small EB games, I mean very small in a smaller suburb. It is probably the smallest EB I have ever seen. They only got 4 PS3s available for preorder.

So this morning was Wii pre-order morning and my wife and I knew it was coming. When she got there she was able to wait in her car because there was only one person in line, but the only other car in the parking lot had someone sitting in it. She wanted to stay warm! Anyways, about 5 min after she got there a girl showed up in a Nintendo shirt, so that was two people in line, then the person in the car got out, so my wife followed closely behind.

It was about this point that she realized that even though she had long underwear, sweatpants, t-shirt, sweatshirt, ear warmer, scarf, and a blanket… she forgot her jacket. Apparently sitting outside waiting in line in 40 degree temperatures sucks without a jacket. She would have called me to yell at me for letting her out of the house w/o a jacket, but her phone died after one ring. I had also forgot my cellphone at home… so I couldn’t really contact her either.

Anyways, she spent about two and a half house sitting outside in line while playing Super Princess Peach on her DS, 4th in line. By the time they opened up there were 10 people in line. The store only got 8 Wii available for pre-order, so unfortunately two people got turned down. Apparently one kid was there with his dad who got him out of school. Either way, everyone who was there wanted to get a Wii to play one.

This is in very stark contrast to reports I heard about the PS3. While that EB got twice as many Wii to preorder it actually sold out on them quicker than PS3s. I also read many reports that most people who were waiting in line for the PS3 were going to use them as investments for Ebay in hopes to make a quick buck.

Also, I think that (outside of G4 and other game related items) there has been no Wii advertising. Where there has been (albeit little) PS3 advertising. Anyways, I’m happy, my wife is happy, Nintendo’s probably happy. I didn’t bother with the PS3 because the magazine is eating up a lot of my money recently (pre-order an issue if you have been meaning to!) and I really would much rather have a Wii.

I know many other people on my friends list were doing the same today, so how was hunting? Or have you heard any interesting stories about waiting?

Confusion Control

To avoid any possible confusion from my most recent GameSetWatch column, I am making this entry to state that a review of Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins will be coming soon.

JoJo’s Bizarre

As some of you may, or may not, know I am some what of a large JoJo fan. One of the first ten banners for this site is from the PS2 game of the fifth story arc. Since Viz hates quality (although I can’t really blame them as it takes about 4 books, not issues, before the first story arc becomes good and even then the art is about 25 years old now, but still, quality and very much in the second story arc) they decided to start out with JoJo in the US with the third story arch.

Now, while the third story arc is awesome, it’s not really very good. It doesn’t have enough character development, nor enough exposition on the wacky logic that makes JoJo especially fantastic. Needless to say after finishing up the second story arc it was a bit of a let down, but the Stands are what make the arc and they are really awesome. I think that the fourth story arc is much better at getting into what a Stand is and what it can do, but the third story arc is a nice set-up and introduction. The fifth story arc (last I checked) wasn’t fully translated, and when I played through the PS2 game (which is only like 4 hours long) of that arc I was lost as to what the hell was going on.

So, what makes up JoJo? Metrosexual clothing with awesome poses, Rock and Roll name puns, vampires, kung-fu, action, and over the top violence. It is a Japanese view of American comics, and it is hilarious at times, amazing at others, and occasionally genius.

So, why all this? Well, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood is coming out for the PS2 soon. It encompasses the first and second story arc. This video was recently released on youtube which was recorded at TGS. If you aren’t yet interested in the series you may want to head over to ignition-one.com and check out the first two story arcs and then perhaps you will be.
