Calamity Annie

Calamity Annie is perhaps the first dyke western videogame. I can’t think of any others.

I probably should have written about this game sooner, but I was under strict orders to say nothing about it except in vague terms.  I’m not really good at that so I just kept my mouth shut. It was really hard not to say anything to anyone because it is such a fantastic little indie game.

The game is quite simple, it borrows heavily from very early style saloon and parlor games. The key is quick draw. Reducing the game down to its very essence leaves you with one impression: concentration. Sure there’s many things to distract you, mini-games, story, and even tumbleweeds. Yet, as the sun beats down on you at Fister’s Alley you’ll be concentrating on nothing but the enemy at the other end of a pistol.

I highly recommend trying the game out, it’s free and can be grabbed at auntie pixelante’s site.  If you like it, please donate so that we can send out auntie to the IGF next year!
